About
Our products can be recycled endlessly, making environmental and economic sense and the materials are suitable for:
Aggregate Applications
Recycled glass can be used in a number of construction applications substituting quarried materials. It can be used in aggregate applications and in bound sub courses for roads.
Brickmaking
Glass contains about 15% soda (Na2O) which is a powerful fluxing agent and can reduce the firing temperatures when small additions are made to bricks.
Aggregate Replacement
Asphalt production, Precast Concrete, Blocks and Readymixed Concrete are all suitable for the inclusion of recycled crushed glass that has been graded and meets technical requirements
Some Cool Facts
The Numbers Speak For Themselves
The Recycled Crushed Glass (RCG) is regularly 3rd Party tested by UKAS Testing accredited Norfolk Partnership Laboratory to ensure consistency. Testing includes: Particle Size Distribution to BS EN 933-1 : 2012 Loose Bulk Density and Voids to BS EN 1097-3 : 1998 Relative Density and Water Absorption to BS EN 1097-6 : 2000 Determination of Density using Linear Measurement Method to BS 1377 : Part2 : 1990 and Moisture Content to BS EN 17892-1 : 2014
Safe to Use
Recycled Crushed Glass is Inert as it does not undergo any significant physical, chemical, or biological transformation. It does not dissolve, burn or otherwise physically chemically react, biodegrade or adversely affect other matter with which it comes into contact in a way likely to give rise to environmental pollution or harm to human health. Its total leachability and pollution content, the ecotoxicity of leachates are insignificant and, in particular, do not endanger the quality of any surface or ground water
It Is a Gift
Due to a specific gravity well below conventional aggregates, Recycled Crushed Glass can provide a greater yield (more volume of asphalt per tonne for example). Loose Bulk Density is currently 1.09 Mg/m3 with a compacted Bulk Density of 1.34 Mg/m3. In comparison a medium particle concrete sand is 1.44 Mg/m3 and compacted 1.68 Mg/m3.
Moisture content is again favourable, currently averaging 1.5% over samples tested between June 2021 and August 2023.
